Introduction

We take the protection of your privacy and confidentiality seriously. We understand that visitors to our website are entitled to information about their personal data and know it will not accidentally fall into the hands of a third party.

We do not sell your data to third parties

Our principle guidelines are simple, and we will be clear about the data we collect and why. This Policy sets out the conditions under which we may process any information that we collect from you, or that you provide to us. It covers information that could identify you (“personal information” or ‘’personal data’’). In the context of the law and this notice, “process” means any operation performed on the personal information including collecting, storing, transferring, using, or otherwise acting on information.

We hope the sections below will answer any questions you have but, if not, please do get in touch with us here.

We also collect, use, and share Aggregated Data such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. Aggregate Data could be derived from your personal data but is not considered personal data in law as this data will not directly or indirectly reveal your identity as it is amalgamated with that of other people.

For example, we may aggregate your Usage Data to calculate the percentage of users accessing a specific website feature. However, if we combine or connect Aggregated Data with your personal data so that it can directly or indirectly identify you, we will treat the combined data as personal data which will be used in accordance with this privacy policy.

We do not collect any Special Categories of Personal Data about you (this includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, information about your health, and genetic and biometric data). Nor do we collect any information about criminal convictions and offences.

The below categories of data are collected about you:

Directly provided data
“Directly provided data” means when you visit our website, register with us, request a magazine or place an order for products or services, you are providing data by filling in text boxes or clicking buttons.
We also collect information when you voluntarily complete customer surveys, provide feedback, contact customer services, and participate in competitions.

When you contact us generally, and our customer services team specifically, to register with us, request a magazine or place an order for products and services, or to register a complaint, whether by telephone or by e-mail, we collect the data you have given to us in order to reply with the information you need.
When you provide feedback and post customer reviews on our website we collect data in order to respond appropriately.

When you give this information to us it requires a direct action from you and, as such, is deemed to be “directly provided data”.

User-authorised data
“User-authorised data” is when you give us permission to obtain your data from other businesses. Depending on your settings or the privacy policies for other online services, you may give us permission to obtain information from your account with those other services.

For example, if another website jointly runs a competition with us, they will send us a list of the entrants who opted to receive our email newsletter as part of their entry. The information we obtain from such third parties does depend on your settings for that service or their privacy policies, so you should always regularly check what those say.

However, we will only arrange such joint promotions if it is made clear how the data will be shared with us. Where appropriate we will share any specific details as part of the terms and conditions of any promotion.
This applies specifically (but not only) where you are asked if you would like to agree to receive/sign up to receive our magazine on the Facebook social media platform; to the giving of Reviews on the Trust Pilot platform; making a booking to visit to our showroom on the Booking Bug platform and applying for Interest Free Credit on the Klarna platform. This applies generally when you use any social media platform or forum, including the Christopher Ward Forum.

Some of the cookies we use are directly associated with your Christopher Ward account (relating to things like the email address you gave us), and other cookies are not. You will find more details on our cookie usage here

The type of device you’re using to access our website and the settings on that device may provide us with information about your device, including what type of device it is, what specific device you have, what operating system you’re using, what your device settings are, and why a crash has happened. What information we can be provided with depends on what type of device you are using and its settings. For example, different types of information are available depending on whether you are using a Mac or a PC, an iPhone or an Android phone. Your device manufacturer or operating system provider will have more details about what information your device makes available to us

Facebook custom audience

We use your personal data to create custom audiences and lookalike audiences on Facebook for the purpose of advertising our products to you.

When custom audiences are created, Facebook acting as the data processor (we are the data controller) uses our Customer Relationship Management (CRM)data to match it to people with a Facebook account to create a Custom Audience for our advertising campaigns.

When we set up a custom audience, we provide Facebook with Hashed Data (achieved by reducing the data to a string of characters for security purposes) which we upload from our database. Facebook then match our Hashed Data with their Hashed Data, which is made up of Facebook email addresses.

For this section, the following definitions apply:
  • custom audience is a type of audience on a social media platform that comprises our customers, which may include you if you have the relevant social media account; and
  • lookalike audience is a type of audience which uses a custom audience to identify the common qualities of the individuals in it (such as demographic information or interests)
For further information please refer to the information provided by Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/customaudience

You may opt-out of participation in our Facebook Custom Audience by sending an email, from the email address you are opting out of, to us here. We will forward your name and email address to Facebook.com with a request to delete you from all of our Facebook Custom Audience Ads.

The data tracked during such analyses is forwarded to Google.

reCAPTCHA analysis runs entirely in the background. Website visitors are not alerted that an analysis is underway.
